December 10th, 2007-  Lots of news to tell regarding TopTiels' FANTASTIC 2007
Breeding Season!

Best Pairings of 2007-
2007 Breeding Notes

pair #101-  417 and 572
417 doesn't display the classic pair #54 size, but he does have a nice head and is
extremely long.  He's an F1 outcross, and sometimes these birds can lose all visible
traces of their original line.  Genetically, though - this boy carries dna that ensures
the size and massive heads that his ancestors displayed will show themselves again!
This is accomplished by pairing the F1 to a bird that shares a percentage of the
genes from the original line (in this case, pair #54).

pair #102 - Graham & 528
While most of my pairs that I set up here are bred to expand on the Greeson lineage,
I set Graham and 528 up as a linebreeding on a different family.  They both have
their share of Greeson genes (Graham more than 528), but this pairing is a half and
half on Jimmy Allen's parents.

pair #103 - Ares & 415
Ares and 415 are what I call "a pedigree pairing".  They look good on paper and their
chicks are remarkable - but, when the time comes for them to return to the main
flock, they immediately go their separate ways.  Ares prefers the solitary role in the
aviary anyway.  He courts ALL hens and picks fights with most of the boys, so he
stays pretty busy.  415 usually tries to find 412 (another beautiful hen) as quickly as
possible and the two band together for some fun in the sun.

pair #104  - Clyde & 124
...After a couple of great phone calls, Phil and I decided to meet in Tucson, AZ at the
Great American Show.  He was bringing me my first show birds!   When he
introduced me to the cage of 5 birds, he explained that he always tries to give a
"newbie" one great bird that it hurts him to let go... Then he pointed to Clyde and
said "that's the bird that hurts".

pair #109 - 59-97 & 412
55G-59-97 is a pure Greeson cock and is also the brother to Zeus.  He's Moose's
father, Sadie's grandfather and Rocky's great grandfather!  He's a pair #129 cock,
which is a blend of pair #16 and pair #54.  His genes flow through most of our birds
here in varying degrees - so when the opportunity to purchase him came up, I
jumped at the chance!

pair #111 - Apollo/Leta Hen & Rocky
I heard breeding sounds out in the aviary one day while folding clothes in a nearby
bedroom.  I peeked through the window into the aviary and saw two of my 2006
favorites "practicing" in the morning sun on a Eucalyptus branch.   I have alot of
Cockatiels, but not so many that I don't recognize 90% visually, and I knew both of
these two immediately!
