When our Cockatiels aren't breeding, our birds fly through enormous spaces as a flock.
Theirmain flight measures 25 feet long and 15 feet wide.  It's 8 1/2 feet high and has skylights
installed for extra sunshine.   All of our tiels know each other.  Many choose to spend their time
away from breeding with a cherished friend.  They eat, play and sleep with each other (often an old
mate or a sibling) until it's time for them to breed with a new partner that we've selected.
The same parents that raise them with all of the
love and care they know instinctively to provide.

Only after the 24 hour a day attention has turned
this delicate 3 gram chick into a healthy robust 3
week old youngster do we step in and take over.

The babies are raised right in our own home
together as a clutch.  Individual babies are
paired together for comfort and they practice
flying right in our own living room !
Right:  46N-07-06, Normal split Pied, Lutino & Pearl cock
"SPARKS"
Sometimes, we allow them to choose their own
mates and simply install nestboxes directly into
the main flight for a partial season of
colony
breeding.  By doing this, we allow the natural
selection, the search for a nesting site and the
defense of that site to remain ingrained in our
birds. Our productivity is much better and our
fertility is outstanding because our pairs are
allowed to experience this most natural process.

When they are set up to individually breed, they
are
linebred for a variety of traits. These qualities
are bred into the offspring generation after
generation to ensure their place in your breeding
programs.

We are consistently perfecting the diets we offer our birds including fresh foods,
seed mixes and hand feeding formulas.  Every Cockatiel at TopTiels enjoys a
breakfast of fresh sprouts, vegetables and garden greens. The mix we've developed
over the last three years is purchased weekly through natural grocery stores such as
Sprouts, Trader Joes and Whole Foods.  100% human grade grains, seeds, beans
A Nice Note ...

"I went to the airport last night and picked up a
shipment from Don. Only one of them is
staying here with me, the others are going to
Liz and Randy. … I have to say, I wish they
were all staying here. I’ve only had them for
about 12 hours and I’m attached already. ..
That maternal, motherly protective thing is
kicking in. It’s a good thing I know Liz and
Randy so well or I’d be in a ‘moral dilemma’.
Anyway, my boy doesn’t have a shy bone in his
body. He was even eating out of my hand last
night when I got them in the cage. So was one
of Randy’s boy, btw.
The biggest of the 2
Greeson boys. Well, I've
not looked at their pedigrees but I assume
they are Greeson; they sure look it. With those
HUGE, innocent eyes and ‘teddy bear’ faces that suck you right in. ~sigh~ "
- Lisa G

And Another Nice Note:
"I have to second the praise and thanks to Don for his quality cockatiels!  My daughter Caitlin and I
drove to the Ohio-Indiana border to meet Lisa G and we came home with two big
Linda Greeson
males and the biggest, most beautiful hen imaginable!
Lisa and I went together and purchased several cockatiels from Don and we split the shipping
cost.  Thank you, Lisa for driving for several hours to meet us (it's always a pleasure seeing you!),
and thank you Don, for parting with three astonishing cockatiels and for all your help!
Don's birds have amazing pedigrees and are very healthy!  I highly recommend Don as a source of
cockatiels, both as pets or show breeders!  It is worth the effort to have his birds shipped to you...
You won't be sorry!  I cannot say enough about this very positive experience I've had with Don and
his cockatiels!"
- Randy M

Our breeding and resting cages are enormous by most standards.  Our birds live in the sun, the
rain and the breezes that blow across the desert  just as they would in their homeland of Australia.
A covered & protected area is only ever a short flight away.
Whenever possible, Cockatiels born here begin life in the most natural of ways.  No incubators ...
No lab equipment... No special "day 1 formulas".   Our chicks hatch with help from their parents.
